Reiki
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle energy healing practice developed in Japan in the early 1900s by Mikao Usui (1865–1926).
The word Reiki (pronounced ray-key) comes from two Japanese words:
- Rei — Universal
- Ki — life force energy
Together, Reiki can be understood as Universal Life Energy — the natural energy that flows through all living things.
How Reiki Works
Reiki is a holistic practice that supports balance on all levels — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
During a Reiki session, you will lie down or sit comfortably, fully clothed. The practitioner gently channels Universal Life Energy through their hands, placing them lightly on or just above the body. This allows the energy to flow into your energy field, supporting balance and harmony.
Reiki is non-invasive, gentle, and deeply calming.
What You May Experience
Each person’s experience is unique. During a session, you may notice:
- A sense of deep relaxation
- Warmth or tingling sensations
- Emotional release
- A feeling of calm, clarity, or peace
The energy works naturally, supporting your body and mind in the way that is most needed.
Distant Reiki
Reiki can also be offered remotely. In a distance session, the practitioner tunes into your energy field and sends healing energy without physical contact. Many people find remote Reiki just as effective and deeply restorative.
